Leisure facilities to reopen on Monday

Leisure centres, swimming pools and gyms across the borough are set to reopen to the public from Monday 12 April, following the Government announcement on Monday 5 April that the second stage of the roadmap out of lockdown is to take place as planned.

However government rules on social contact still apply, so indoor leisure facilities must only be visited alone or within household groups and people should continue to socially distance from those not in their household or support bubble.

Aquadrome and Tadley Health and Fitness Centre

From Monday, gym sessions, lane swimming, swimming lessons and family swim sessions will restart at the Aquadrome in Basingstoke and the Tadley Health and Fitness Centre, with changing rooms, lockers and showers available for use.

However the health suite and sauna and steam rooms at both facilities, along with café at the Aquadrome, will remain closed, and there will be no fitness classes for adults. In addition, and to help further reduce the risk from COVID-19, a number of measures will also be put in place including:

  • a reduction in the number of people able to use the swimming pools at any one time, with 30 people able to use the 25 metre pool and 24 people able to use the 20 metre pool
  • a reduction in the number of people able to use gym facilities by 50%
  • the placement of plastic screens between pieces of gym equipment at both centres.

Residents are encouraged to book online in advance to guarantee that they will be able to use the facilities upon arrival. For more information, including opening hours, see www.basingstokeleisure.com
